MALO MALO is a contemporary Afro-Latin dance band with a distinct soulful flavour. The group is lead by Danny G Felix, a pianist, trumpeter & producer who divides his time between Sydney where he grew up, & Cali, Colombia – the ”capital of Salsa” ! It was in Cali where he built a strong connection with some of the other members of his crew Jeimy Castillo, John Paul Avila, Hans Gonzales and Camilo Rengifo while working together in Orquesta Calibre. MALO MALO are a proudly multi-cultural ensemble all about bringing joy and good vibes to the public through the amazing gift of music. In 2019 they released their debut album “AUSTRALEÑO” (including 9 originals and 1 cover). Several tracks have charted internationally and have been featured in the top 100 “New Generation Salsa” playlists. It was also ‘”Album of the week” on Eastside Radio. Their single “Finao” was “song of the week” on radio FBI’s Bare Necessities. In 2020 they performed at Cali’s biggest new years day street party in the barrio Ulpiano lloreda shortly followed by sold out shows in Colombia’s capital Bogota and Cali where they recorded a live EP “Live In Cali” 2021 at La Topa Tolondra. They recently collaborated with other up and coming latin artists from Australia. In 2020 with Sydney’s OYOBI on the EP “Mi Ritmo” and then Melbourne’s HORATIO LUNA on the EP “Variations On Finao” 2021 and this year with Tumbao Social (Melbourne) on “Me Quiere Vacilar” 2022.
